A housewife jumped on the railway tracks along with her four-year-old daughter and was run over by a train near Canning station today.
Police said while the woman was run over by up Sealdah-Canning local and died on the spot, her daughter survived.
The child lost her left forearm under the wheels of the train. She was rescued and rushed to hospital
The identity of the woman or her daughter is yet to be known, the police added.
