Housing society scam: 11 held guilty for cheating

Special CBI judge Vinod Kumar convicted 11 persons--seven public servants and four others--in the case involving Rangmahal cooperative group housing society scam.

Of the over 65 chargesheets filed by CBI in 2005 in the scam, the Rangmahal CGHS case is the first to have been decided.

The public servants to be convicted are kingpin former Registrar Cooperative Societies Narayan Diwakar, Jt Registrar Jasbeer Singh, Assistant Registrar (Audit) Jitender Sharma, Assistant Registrar Ramesh Chandra, Dealing Assistant Rakesh Kumar and Inspector RCS Faiz Mohd and one P K Thirvani.

They have been held guilty of cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code and for under the Prevention of Corruption Act. (more)
