HP cabinet to issue show cause notices to cement plants

Himachal Pradesh cabinet today decided to issue show cause notices to five cement plants approved in the past, but have not started functioning.

These cement plants are Keran Limestone deposits of Harish Cements Ltd and Alsindi plant of Lafarge India in Karsog, Gumma-Rohana plant of India Cement in Shimla district, Cement Plant (Unit-II) of Jai Prakash Associates based on already leased out Baga Bhalag Limestone deposits in Arki in Solan district and Baroh-Shind plant also of Jai Prakash Associates in Tehsil Churah of Chamba district.

The cabinet, which met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, approved the Skill Development Allowance (SDA) scheme for eligible educated unemployed youths.
 

Under the scheme, provision has been made to provide SDA to the youth in the age group of 25-35 years with minimum educational qualification of Higher Secondary pass from state recognised educational institutions and whose names are registered in employment exchanges for the past two years.

Eligible candidates will be given an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month whereas candidates with 50 per cent or more disability will get allowance of Rs 1,500 per month, under the scheme.
