Stressing on imparting value based education to women, Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that educated women are asset for the society and hold the key to socio-economic transformation.
The goal of overall prosperity of India as nation would remain elusive if women are not educated and empowered and given respectful place in the society, Singh said while presiding over a day-long seminar on "Condition of women in hilly states" organized jointly by National Commission for Women and Himachal State Commission for Women.
Expressing concern over safety of women, Chief Minister said atrocities on women must end, gender bias should be eradicated and gender gap should be bridged to make women socially and economically strong.
