Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today asked the Centre to release Rs 500 crore for early completion of the Swan Channelisation project in Una district.
"The Swan River Channelisation project is of utmost importance for the economic development of the district which had suffered the fury of Swan. Efforts to tame the river by channelisation it has been taken on war footing," he said after inaugurating a Auto Fair here.
Taking at dig at the BJP for claiming that "the state was being given financial assistance by the Centre", Singh said, "Many agreements and developmental projects committed by the previous UPA government have not been fulfilled by this dispensation."
The Chief Minister said the Army has also made a proposal for setting up cantonment in Una and the state will provide it suitable land.
