HP crush Assam by an innings and 133 runs

Pacer Rishi Dhawan grabbed five wickets to help Himachal Pradesh crush Assam by an innings and 133 runs in their Ranji Trophy cricket match on the fourth and final day here today.

Dhawan (5/53) ran through the Assam batting line-up as the hapless home side were skittled out for just 198 in 79.5 overs after being forced to follow on at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

HP collected seven points from the win, including a bonus point for forcing the opposition team to follow on, while the home side got none from the Group C match.

For Assam, who conceded a 331-run first-innings lead to the visiting side, Tarjinder Singh fought a lone battle with a 212-ball 90 which he made with the help of 13 boundaries.
 

Assam had scored 218 all out in their first innings in reply to 549 for four declared by HP.
