Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today made a slew of announcements during his visit to backward areas of Shimla and Sirmaur districts.
The Chief Minister announced upgradation of Kupvi sub-Tehsil as Tehsil in Shimla district and sub-depot of HRTC at Nerwa as full-fledged depot.
Singh said that Kupvi will be made a Tehsil as a special case because of the backwardness and hard topography of the area which was around 150-km away from Chopal and had eight backward Gram Panchayats.

At Haripurdhar in Sirmaur district, the Chief Minister announced creation of a sub-Tehsil at Renuka.
Addressing public meeting at Haripurdhar, Singh said successive Congress governments had accorded priority to speedy and all-round development of far-flung areas of the state.
He also inaugurated Tarahan-Kanda-Banah road completed at the cost of 3.52 crore and Kupvi-Mashot-Dochi-Kanah road completed at a cost of RS 3.760 crore.
He also laid foundation stone of 33 kv electricity sub-station at Kupvi which was likely to cost Rs 6.25 crore and would benefit a population of 25,000 of 89 villages of 17 village panchayats of the area.
