Breaking his silence after a case was registered against him for an alleged illegal land deal, Arun Singh, the younger son of former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today accused the Virbhadra Singh-led government of political vendetta.
"Vigilance Bureau has been converted into vendetta bureau to target political opponents and if Chief Minister has declared a war of vendetta let it be so," he told reporters here.
"The government is misusing the official machinery and investigating agencies to malign me, my father and brother Anurag Thakur, but I am not bothered and ready to face media trial to vindicate myself," he retorted.
Exhibiting deal documents to mediapersons, Arun said, Premu, who had sold the land, had given an affidavit that he had not been rendered landless.
He said the 32 marla of land along with a 'Kachha' house constructed on it was purchased by him and his brother Anurag Thakur from Premu, who was legally authorised to the sell the land.
He said the land was sold to them after completion of fifteen years as stipulated in the "Jama Bandi".
Premu was given land on December 7, 1992 and 15 years period expired on December 7, 2007, he said.
Two separate sale deeds were prepared and the total money paid was Rs 6 lakh, Arun said, adding he had also been given the copies of affidavit by Premu and his wife Sargi Devi, stating that land had been sold to them.
The state Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau had booked Anurag and Arun, sons of former chief minister on October 3 for alleged cheating and conspiracy under sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act in the land case.
