The Atal Uniform Scheme, which was launched at Nahan in Sirmaur district by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in the presence of BJP president Nitin Gadkari, will benefit nearly 9.27 lakh students across the state.

Under the Rs 74-crore scheme, students from Class I-X studying in state-run schools will get two pairs of uniform free of cost. They will also get Rs 100 as stitching charges for one pair of uniform.

Addressing a gathering, Gadkari praised Dhumal government to launching various unique development schemes.

Hitting out at the UPA government, he said it has failed in all fronts due to its faulty policies.

Gadkari said international borders were unsafe, Maoists were ruling the roost in several parts of the country and unemployment has made the youth restive.
