HP govt to implement apprentices training scheme

Himachal Pradesh government has madeit compulsory for all public, private undertaking and departments having more than six employees to register themselves on national apprenticeship portal.

The state government has adopted the revised guidelines of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for the Apprentices Training Scheme (ATS) under which it has been made compulsory for all establishments having more than six employees for engaging apprentice within a band of 2.5 to 10 per cent of the total manpower, an official spokesperson said.

He said the Apprentice Act, 1961 was enacted with the objective of regulating the programme of training of apprentice under ATS, which is also a flagship scheme of Skill India Mission to gear up a skill workforce with quality training to youth.
 

The syllabus entry qualification and duration ( six months to two years) of optional trade shall be decided and uploaded by the establishment itself before starting the training on the portal.

A portal for apprenticeship training has been operationalised to implement ATS which incorporates the provisions of establishment registration, establishment search, engaging apprentices etc, the spokesperson said.
