HP implements scheme to give additional health cover to

The Himachal Pradesh government today implemented the Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS) to provide easy access to curative geriatric health care services by way of additional cover, an official release said.

The scheme would provide top up coverage of Rs 30,000 per senior citizen to all existing Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) smart card holders, it said.

This would be in addition to the basic coverage of Rs 30,000 in Trust and Society mode, an official spokesperson said here.

The beneficiaries of this scheme would be RSBY enrolled people aged 60 years and above. But, senior citizens of those families who are eligible for RSBY but not currently enrolled in this scheme, will not get the benefit of SCHIS, he said.
 

The spokesperson said in case there is more than one senior citizen in a family, the coverage would increase proportionately.

A separate list of surgical packages that cost more than Rs 30,000 have been prepared and treatments related to cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, poly-trauma and repair, burns, surgical oncology and medical oncology are covered, the release said.
