Independent MLA Manohar Dhiman, who is an associate member of the Congress, today announced to join the Himachal Pradesh BJP at the Parivartan Rath Rally in Kangra district's Jawali area.

The Indora legislator was denied a ticket by the BJP in the 2012 state elections and after being expelled, he contested as an independent.

Dhimam made the announcement in the presence of Union Health Minister J P Nadda at the rally.

Nadda and other senior BJP leaders welcomed him back and said his "homecoming" would strengthen the party.

The BJP has a strength of 28 MLAs in the 68-member assembly and two out of the four independents have announced to join the party.

Independent MLAs Pawan Kajal and Karnesh Jung are still associate members of the Congress. Earlier, Independent MLA from Chopal Balbir Verma joined the BJP.
