The Army today said it has launched a search and rescue operation in Himachal Pradesh's Kotrupi village, where two buses were hit by a massive landslide triggered by a cloudburst, killing at least 34 people.
"Two columns of the Army from the Dah Division began rescue operations," a defence spokesman told PTI here.
Over 50 passengers were travelling in the state roadways buses along the Mandi-Pathankot national highway when they were hit by the landslide near Padhar last night, officials said.
Thirty-four bodies have been recovered so far, they said, adding that the toll was likely to rise as more people are feared trapped under the debris.
