Eyeing the growing demand for fast computing speed in India, US based technology firm HP today launched a server with about double data processing power compared to other units of similar size in the market.

"Growing popularity of cloud computing, virtualization and big data analysis is boosting the server market in India. HP Integrity Supredome X server can house 16 CPUs (computer units) compared to any other server of same size. Space is what matters when it comes to data center facility," HP India Director for Servers Vikram K said here.

Superdome X has 12 terabyte memory.

"It also also reduces software licence cost by 50 per cent as one software can be used across 16 units compared to other servers which allow only housing of 8 CPUs in them," Vikram said.

The company also unveiled NonStop X and Converged System (CS) 700 servers which will be available in India from first quarter of 2015. In CS 700, the company said it has integrated computing, storage and networking features in one single server doing away need of three separate servers for each of them.
