The police today claimed to have arrested a person accused of firing at a constable in Sirmaur district earlier this month.

Manjeet Singh alias Rimpy from Punjab's Faridkot district was arrested last night from Paonta Sahib, Superintendent of Police (Sirmaur) Soumya Sambasivan said.

He along with his associates had fired at a constable on June 6 at a check-post on the Himachal Pradesh-Uttarakhand border, he said.

"Rajender Kumar, the constable who was shot at by Singh, had tried to stop some criminals at the check post. They opened fire on him but he escaped with minor injuries," the SP said.
