Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister Anil Sharma has been acquitted in a case related to food adulteration in a hotel owned by him.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mandi, Vivek Khenal acquitted Sharma and Subhash Chand, the manager of the hotel, in the case.

The case pertained to allegations by a Food Inspector that the hotel was selling adulterated chicken and liquor which was misbranded.

It was argued that the case was not made out against the accused as the mandatory procedure as per Act was not complied with. It was pointed out that the witnesses who were examined did not support the version of the Food Inspector as one was outside the hotel and other did not participate in the proceedings.

The court held that the witnesses examined did not support the version of the Food Inspector and acquitted both the accused.
