HP: Moderate rains at many places in Kangra

Moderate rains lashed many places in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district even as monsoon remained weak in the state and maximum temperatures rose marginally.

Kangra received 47 mm of rains while adjoining areas of Palampur and Dharamsala received 28 mm and 22 mm rains, followed by Jogindernagar 11 mm and Baijnath 8 mm.

Shimla was lashed by intermittent showers in the evening causing sharp fall in day temperatures. The day temperature which touched 24.0 deg C during the day, dipped by few notches after the city received 2 mm of rains.

The sky remained heavily overcast and thick fog engulfed the region, hampering vehicular traffic.
 

The weather remained dry in lower hills and Una recorded maximum temperature at 34.5 degree while Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded a high of 32.6 degree and 31.4 degree, followed by Solan and Nahan 28.5 degree, Dharamsala 27.2 degree, Palampur 25.0 degree and Kalpa 22.4 degree C.

The minimum temperatures dropped marginally and Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district was coldest in the region with a low of 8.7 deg C followed by Kalpa 10.2 deg, Manali 12.6 deg, Dalhousie 13.7 deg, Shimla 14.6 deg, Solan 15.6 deg, Palampur 16.4 deg and Nahan 16.9 deg C respectively.

The MeT office here has predicted rains or thundershowers at many places in the state during next five days.
