The campus of Bahra University at Vaknagha was raided today within hours after the new chairman of SPC Board, Kuldeep Singh Pathania assumed office.

"We had served notices to the university and asked the management to seek environmental clearances and finally sent the search team to probe the allegations of flouting of environmental norms," a member of the board said.

The team found that no construction was taking place in the campus but a retaining wall was being raised purportedly for dumping the muck and it was stopped, Sanjay Sood, Member Secretary Pollution Control Board said.

"We will look into all other alleged environmental violations done by the university on its campus," board chairman Pathania said.

He said flouting of environmental laws by other private universities, if any, would also be checked.

Bahra University is also accused of flattening the hill during the phase-II construction of the campus, located on the Chandigarh-Shimla highway.
