HP to cover entire state under drinking water supply scheme

Addressing a public meeting at Chowari in district Chamba, he said that 90 per cent of habitations in the state had been brought under the piped drinking water supply scheme which was highest in the country.

He said that besides providing drinking water and power, the government was concerned about the problem of disposal of solid waste in urban areas and planned to set up solid waste management plants in all upcoming semi-urban areas in a phased manner.

Dhumal said 12 per cent population of the state has more than six-roomed accommodation for their families, only one per cent population was houseless and 86 per cent of its population had mobile telephone facility and this spoke volumes about the development made by the state and improvement in socio-economic status of the people.

 

He said that rising prices was a serious issue and in order to provide relief to people, the state government was providing a subsidy of Rs 130 crore on foodgrains to all sections including above poverty line (APL) families.

The Chief Minister claimed that the state government had adopted election manifesto as policy document of the state and all the promises made in the manifesto had been fulfilled.

Besides, 16.5 lakh domestic power consumers had been provided four CFL bulbs free of cost under Atal Bijli Bachat Yojana by spending Rs 64 core and this unique initiative had resulted in saving of power worth Rs 110 crore in a year.

He said financial assistance under Atal Awas Yojana and Indira Awas Yojana had been increased from Rs 27,500 to Rs 48,500 to provide housing facilities to each poor family in the state.

All students of government schools have been provided free uniforms and stitching charges amounting Rs 100 to bring uniformity in the schools, he added.
