For the second day today, the paper production work of the public sector mill here in central Assam's Morigaon district was affected with the casual workers' union members staging a dharna and a sit-in demonstration, according to the union's general secretary Atul Chandra Kalita.
The workers were demanding revised remuneration as announced by the central labour department and implementation of the Gauhati High Court order issued three months ago for the HPC to pay the revised remuneration to the causal workers, Kalita told reporters.
The HPC authority were yet to implement the revised remuneration with the workers receiving payments less than the NREGA rate, he asserted.
