Suspected members of the Manipur- based Hmar People's Convention (Democrats) fired at a police outpost in Khawlian along the Mizoram-Manipur border last night.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, LT Hrangchal, said the militants fired several rounds at the police outpost and fled as the policemen retaliated.
There was no casualty or injuries as a result of the firing, which lasted for about 10 minutes, said Hrangchal.

A platoon of the second India Reserve Battalion has now been deployed at the outpost.
