The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL) has set new records of highest efficiency and lowest fuel consumption during the year 2013-14.
Principal Secretary (Power) and Chairman, Haryana Power Utilities, Devender Singh said here today that the oil consumption was 0.85 ml and coal consumption remained 705 gm per unit of electricity produced in the State's thermal plants, which is lowest since formation of the HPGCL.
The thermal units achieved a Station Heat Rate of 2,447 kcal per unit and auxiliary consumption of 8.49 per cent which is lowest ever achieved by the HPGCL.
He said all the thermal units of the HPGCL, except unit-2 of Khedar (Hisar), are available for generating power at their full rated capacity.
These units will start power generation as per demand of electricity in the State, he said.
The forced closure of generating units due to less demand in the State and availability of other cheaper sources of power to the distribution companies, is known as backing down, he said.
Singh said Haryana has nearly tripled its installed generation capacity in the last nine years.
During 2004-05, the installed thermal/Hydel generation capacity within Haryana was 1587.7 MW which has now increased to 5300.50 MW, he said.
Referring to availability of power and arrangements made for ongoing summer and ensuing paddy season, he said the arrangements made are much higher than the projected demand.
The predictions regarding below average monsoon rains this year have also been kept in view while deciding the demand projections, he said.
As per load demand projections, during the first fortnight of June, the projected requirement will be 6,000- 6,200 MW against which the availability will be from 8,000- 8,200 MW.
During the second fortnight of June, the projected demand will be from 7,300-7,500 MW and the availability will be 9,100-9,300 MW.
In the months of July, August and September, the projected requirement of electricity is 7,590 MW, 6,600 MW and 6640 MW against which the HPPC had already arranged 9500 MW, 9,300 MW and 8,400 MW ,respectively, for these months, he said.
