Himachal Pradesh government today decided that from academic session 2013-14, Himachal Pradesh Private Educational institutions Regulatory Commission (HPPERC) will grant approval to courses run by private universities.
"Private universities will have to observe eligibility criteria, minimum standard of instructions, prescribed norms for running courses and programmes and grant of degree shall be imparted by a duly qualified teaching staff and all appropriate academic physical infrastructure facilities as prescribed by relevant regulatory bodies such as UGC or AICTE have to be maintained to get the approval," Sarojini G Thakur, chairman of the Commission said here.
Regarding reduction of seats in Pharmacy courses, Thakur said the Commission had consciously reduced the intake of M. Pharma course from 72 to 18 seats as private universities are yet get requisite approval from competent authorities about the course.
