Haryana Assembly Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar today said he is in favour of longer duration of sessions so that all MLAs could get sufficient time to deliberate and discuss issues concerning their areas.
Gujjar stated this while interacting with media persons here today.
He said that he was in favour of doubling the time of Vidhan Sabha Sessions as compared to the last session.
"Lowest duration of sessions are held in Haryana across the country," he claimed adding that the number of sessions would increase in future.
Asked about the budget session, Speaker said that it is expected to be convened in the first week of March.
On being asked about electing the Deputy Speaker of Vidhan Sabha, Gujjar said that it is likely to be elected in the budget session.
He said he has been making efforts to make the working of Haryana Vidhan Sabha paperless on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh so as to reduce wastage of money and cutting of trees.
This would also accelerate the working of Vidhan Sabha, he said adding a delegation of Haryana Assembly would visit the Himachal Pradesh.
While replying to another question, Gujjar said soon laptops and printers would be given to MLAs of Haryana.
Himachal Pradesh is the first state in the country where the Assembly had gone paperless.
The Speaker said an Orientation Programme will be organised for first time MLAs on February 20 here.
He said that rising above the partisan politics, the MLAs of various parties have been invited for this programme to share their political experiences.
In Haryana Assembly, out of total 90 MLAs, 57 are the first time MLAs, he said.
Among the first timers, BJP has 38 while INLD and Congress have 12 and one MLAs respectively.
