The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has resumed its bus services, which were suspended on August24 due to violence in Haryana in thewake of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's conviction in a rape case, on all the routes, state Transport Minister G S Bali said today.

He added that the decision to resume the bus services was taken after a discussion with the state Director General of Police (DGP) and other officers on the current situation and a review of all the safety aspects of the buses and passengers.

Bali said buses started plying on all the routes from this evening, adding that the situation would again be reviewed tomorrow evening.

He added that the night bus services were resumed on half of the routes last evening and no untoward incident was reported since.

The violence in Haryana and the subsequent cancellation of bus services had badly hit the tourism sector over the weekend and hotel occupancy had come down to less than five per cent, said M K Seth, president, Tourism Industry Stakeholders' Association.

Dera Saucha Sada chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in a 15-year-old rape case by a CBI court in Panchkula, Haryana on Friday. The quantum of punishment in the case will be pronounced tomorrow.
