The Haryana government has approved a scheme to provide monthly financial assistance to female acid victims, state minister Krishan Kumar Bedi said today.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has given his approval to an monthly assistance of Rs 8,000 to women and girl acid attack victims, the Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment said.
They would also be given preference in the allotment of fair price shops by the Haryana Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Bedi said.
He said that the financial assistance would be given to female acid attack victims who would come within the definition of disability under Section 2 (i) of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights of Full Participation) Act, 1995.
