Aiming to tighten security cover given to VIPs/VVIPs, the Haryana CID conducted a training programme for police personnel to provide protection more effectively to such individuals during close interaction with a large number of people.

The programme, launched on Monday under the guidance of Inspector General of Police (CID) Anil Rao and the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Security) Rahul Sharma, concluded today at the Commando Training Centre in Panchkula.

Addressing the valedictory session, Rao said the programme focussed on how police personnel needed to be deployed keeping in view the safety and security of the individual while ensuring that general public did not face any difficulty with that security circle.

He said 57 police personnel from five districts were imparted training about close protection of VIPs/VVIPs.

Training was imparted in maintenance and use of weapons like pistols, carbines, AK 47s, etc., and on ways to deal with terror attacks, an official release said.

After evaluation, the team from Jhajjar district was adjudged the winner based on performance in the training programme.

Instructions regarding security arrangements were also given to the personnel, the release said.
