Hry govt to revise Supplementary Nutrition Programme

Haryana Government has decided to revise the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Mission and has also enhanced the amount to be spent on the programme.

Stating this today, a spokesman of Haryana Women and Child Development Department said that under SNP of the ICDS scheme, milk would also be introduced in heavily burdened districts -- Bhiwani, Narnaul, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Yamuna Nagar, Rewari, Panipat, and Kaithal.

He said that under the new financial norms, the daily supplementary nutrition of children aged up to six years has been increased to Rs six from Rs four per day, of pregnant and lactating mothers has been increased to Rs seven from Rs five per day, and of children severely underweight has been increased to Rs nine from Rs six per day.
 

The spokesman said that now under the SNP, beneficiaries would be provided with milk twice a week besides their daily nutrition and three times milk in a week for severely underweight children.
