The state government has decided to set up five demonstration polyhouses as a pilot project where differently-abled children will be given employment opportunities and skills development training.

A spokesman for the Horticulture Department today said the state government will engage physically-challenged, blind, and, deaf children at the polyhouses so that they can acquire skills which will create employment opportunities for them.

The centres would be set up at Government Institute for Blind, Panipat; Sirtar district Red Cross Society, Rohtak; Haryana Welfare Society for Hearing and Speech Handicapped, Panchkula; Indian Chakerverti Gram, Karnal Gogripur road, Karnal, and one in Jhajjar, the spokesperson said.

It would also provide them fresh vegetables, he said.

The spokesman said a proposal to this effect has been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

He said if the programme succeeds, polyhouses would be set up across the entire state.
