Haryana government has notified that the days of poll for the elections to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Legislative Assemblies would be observed as paid holidays or special casual leave (paid) in all its offices for its employees who are registered voters in these two states.
This would apply to all government educational institutions, boards and corporations to encourage the employees to cast their votes in the elections.
"The Haryana government has notified that the days of poll for the these two assemblies would be observed as paid holidays or special casual leave (paid) in all its offices, educational institutions, boards and corporations under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and under Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 in respect of those employees who are registered voters of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand for casting their votes on the respective dates," an official spokesman said here today.
He further said that employees of various factories, shops and private establishments located in Haryana, who are registered voters of UP and Uttarakhand are also allowed to take leave (paid) under Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 for the same purpose.
