Hryana govt suspends seven irrigation department officials

Seven officials of the Irrigation Department of Haryana have been suspended by the state government for alleged irregularities in flood protection works.

The officials have been suspended for various "irregularities" in preparing bills and using substandard material in flood protection works of Tajewala Complex under Hathnikund Barrage Circle in Yamunanagar district, an official release said today.

Besides, action, which comes in the wake of reports submitted by the State Vigilance Bureau, will also be taken as per the service rules against six officials of the department who have already retired from the service, the release said.

The cost of the flood protection work was over Rs 31 crore which was allotted in the year 2010-11.
 

Those who have been suspended are Executive Engineering, R K Bhoria, Sub Divisional Engineer Chaman Lal Gupta, Junior Engineers Rakesh Kamboj, Satpal Singh, Rajiv Kumar, Ved Pal and Jasbir Singh, the release said.

The retired officials against whom action will be taken include Chief Engineer Rajinder Singh and Superintendent Engineer Balbir Singh.
