State-run Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) will supply two diving support vessels to the Indian Navy for augmenting its submarine support operations, officials said.
The first vessel will be built over a period of 36 months, while the second one will have to be delivered six months after delivery of the first one, they said.
The Navy and the HSL have inked a pact for the project. The vessels, which are to be based at Vishakhapatnam and Mumbai respectively, would be of 118 metre in length.
The diving support vehicles can be used for a number of activities, including submarine rescue and recovery of objects lost at sea, officials said.
