HTET question paper leak: 1 more arrested from Delhi

One more arrested in connection with the leak of question paper and answer key of Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test (HTET) Level 3 (PGT) examination here while investigation revealed two groups were active in the leak.

Sachin Dabaas, a Delhi resident, has been arrested today from the national capital by the Special Investigation Team which is probing the matter, police said.

He is being accused of sending the answer keys of the paper to one Ravi and an another person, they said.

With today's arrest, a total of 10 persons have been taken into custody in connection with the case.

The investigation has revealed that two groups were active in leaking of the answer keys, one of Sachin, Ravi and Raghbir and the other one of Durjanpur-resident Amit, said Anil Rao, Inspector General of Police Hisar Range.
 

Prima facie the whole process of leaking of the answer keys was operated from Delhi. As per the information received on interrogating the arrested accused, it seems Ravi and one Praveen Dahiya are main accused in the matter, the IG said in a release.

The arrested persons told police that they received the answer keys an hour before the examination started, Rao said.

Praveen took Rs three lakhs from Ravi and sent the answer keys to him through social messaging app Whatsapp, he said, adding that in turn Ravi forwarded the answers to 15 others for which he was charging Rs One lakh per person.

Devendra, Ravi's associate, also forwarded the answers to three more candidates, the IG Rao said.

Police would get a lead in the case once accused Amit and Praveen are arrested, the IG said.

On November 14, the Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test (HTET) Level 3 (PGT) examination was cancelled in the state on suspicion of paper leak.

Secretary, Haryana School Education Board, Bhiwani, Pankaj Kumar, had said the next date for the examination would be announced soon.

Kumar had said that information was received through the Jind district administration that documents related to the question paper were recovered from an "external person while the examination was going on".

A total 4.61 lakh students in the state were to appear in the HTET examination including 1.44 lakh for JBT, 1.81 lakh for TGT and 1.37 lakh for PGT.
