Chinese smartphone major Huawei today announced its expansion in the Indian retail market with the launch of a new smartphone series.

Bullish to expand its presence in the Indian smartphone market, the smartphone major is seeking to replicate the global dual brand strategy in India, the company said in a statement here.

The company will also offer its Huawei branded smartphones via the retail route along side Honor, the company said.

Honor, a global e-brand, would continue to sell through online marketplaces while Huawei would be available offline through a robust and strong retail distribution network.

"After the global success in the first half of 2015 with our smartphones sales crossing 50 million units, making us the global number 3, we are excited to launch our 'Huawei Brand' series in India," Huawei Telecommunications India President of Consumer Business Group Allen Wang said

Newly launched Huawei Y336, Y541, Y625 and G620S smartphones will be available under its G & Y series between the price range of Rs 5,499 to Rs 9,499.

The devices will be marketed through the company's offline distributors across 1,000 stores in the initial phase thereby flooding the mid-segment market, it added.
