Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered near LoC

Security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, a defence spokesman said today.

The recovery, which included four Chinese pistols, an AK assault rifle and an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), was made during a search operation between the LoC and the fence in Machhal sector yesterday, the spokesman said.

He said 10 AK magazines with 300 rounds, four pistol magazines, 12 UBGL grenades and three Chinese hand grenades were also recovered during the operation which was conducted on a specific information.

This is the second major haul of arms and ammunition recovered by the army in Kupwara district during the past week.
 

He said Army was doing its best to deny any chance of infiltration or smuggling of weapons through LoC.

"The latest recovery is a major success in foiling the attempts of militants to disturb peace in the Valley," the spokesman added.
