Acting tough against the drug menace in Kashmir, the police has seized large quantities of contraband substances during raids in Pulwama and Ganderbal districts of the Valley.
Acting on a tip-off, a checkpost was set up at Shadipora in Ganderbal district and one Irshad Ahmad Bhat apprehended, a police spokesman said.
He added that 400 grams of charas in pure form and 6.5 kg of dried 'bhang' were seized from Bhat's possession.

"The police conducted dozens of raids in the villages of Pulwama district and recovered 712.5 kg of narcotic substance," he added.
According to the police spokesman, 26 cases were lodged against drug peddlers, some notorious smugglers were put behind the bars and an autorickshaw was seized.
The police also apprehended an alleged bootlegger after recovering illicit liquor from his possession at Sangam in Anantnag district.
"Noor Mohammad was apprehended after 28 bottles of rum and four beer cans were recovered from his possession," the spokesman said, adding that a case was registered against the accused.
