Huge quantity of explosives seized, two persons arrested

Police today seized huge quantity of explosives and arrested two persons in this connection in Pakur district, a senior police officer said.

The police seized 10,000 pieces of gelatin sticks and 3,000 pieces of detonators from Basmata village in the district, Superintendent of Police, Shailendra Prasad Burnwal said.

The SP said on a tip-off that some criminals were bringing in large quantity of explosives from West Bengal to Pakur district, a Quick Response Team (QRT) was formed.

The QRT team stopped two persons riding a motorcycle but they abandoned the two-wheeler and tried to flee. But police caught hold of them and found that they were carrying two sacks full of gelatin and detonators.

 

Following information provided by the two arrested persons, police conducted raid in some areas bordering West Bengal and seized five sacks full of detonators and gelatin, the SP added.
