Delhiites had to sweat it out during the day due to high humidity, even though the maximum temperature remained close to 35 degrees Celsius today.

According to the MeT department, the day temperature at Safdarjung observatory, considered to be the official reading for the city, was recorded at 35.2 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal for this part of the season.

In Palam, the maximum settled at 37.1 degrees Celsius, while at Ayanagar and Ridge areas the temperatures were 36 and 33.8 degrees, respectively.

But the moderate temperature levels failed to provide any respite to Delhiites as the humidity level remained high. The humidity oscillated between 63 and 80 per cent during the day.

"The city will get relief from these sultry conditions only after the monsoon arrives," said a MeT official.

The minimum temperature in the city settled at 28.5 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature settled at 37.2 degrees, which was one notch above normal, while the minimum was two points below normal at 25.2 degrees.

The weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibilities of rains and thundershowers occurring in some areas during the day tomorrow.

"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 34 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively," the official said.
