Sultry conditions persisted in the national capital today as humidity shot up to 84 per cent and the mercury settled at 36 degrees Celsius.

According to the MeT office, the day temperature was two notches above the season's average while the minimum temperature at 25.2 degrees was a notch above the normal for this time of the year.

Humidity in air oscillated between 84 and 43 per cent and added to the discomfort for Delhiites even as the MeT office predicted similar weather tomorrow.

"The skies will be mainly clear. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 36 and 26 degrees, respectively," the weatherman said.

Delhi is unlikely to see much more rainfall this season as the monsoon is expected to start withdrawing from north-west India within a couple of days, the Director of India Meteorological Department, BP Yadav, had said.

The maximum in Delhi yesterday had settled at 36.2 degrees while the minimum was recorded at 26 degrees.
