Hundreds of people from flood- affected areas were today rescued and taken to safer places in Kashmir valley, police said.
"The whole Kanyari village in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, comprising about 150 families, was shifted to degree college Sumbal," a police spokesman said.
He said 13 Rashtriya rifles also participated in the rescue operation and provided vehicles for shifting of the people from the flood-hit village.

"About 400 people have been rescued from villages Rakh Litter, Wachi and Zainapora along with their cattle and have been shifted to safer places," the spokesman said.
In Kokernag area of Anantnag district, the spokesman said 14 families comprising of 96 members were rescued at Mati Bidhar.
