Hungarian world record setter Sidi Peter bags gold, Jung upset

Hungary's world record holder Sidi Peter won the 10m Air Rifle gold medal at the Sanjay Kakade Group Gun for Glory shooting championship, being held at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, here today.

Peter, who has entered into the event on invitation, had to shoot in the qualification round today, as his rifle was held back by customs in Mumbai.

However, he was on target and finished with a score of 207, far ahead of Maharashtra's Rupvikas Ghag who clinched silver with a score of 202.1. The bronze went to Ekambir Mandi, who scored 181.6.

Amanpreet Singh of ONGC saw off the challenge from former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Samaresh Jung to win the gold in men's 10m Air Pistol event.
 

Amanpreet scored 197 points, while Jung shot 196.5. Bronze medal winner Balbir Singh of Rajasthan was way behind with a score of 177.1.

In the Surendra Singh national school shooting championship, Tamil Nadu's B S Mithesh clinched the gold in Air Rifle event.

Maharashtra's Kaushal Mahadik and Ashay Bhave won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the girls air rifle event, Delhi's Aditi Singh clinched the gold, while Rajasthan duo of Rashmi Takhar and Geetakshi Dixit won silver and bronze respectively.

Boys' Air Pistol gold went to Visha of UP with West Bengal's Arjun Das winning silver, and UP's Rohan Dev Singh bagging the bronze.

In the girls' Air Pistol event, Kerala's D Abhinaya clinched gold, followed by Maharashtra's Revati Kadam and Andhra's Saba Fatima.
