P Nongshlong, who was leading the hunger-strikers, however, said that they would go on fast after the puja festival.

"We are firm on our decision to go on fast, but we are likely to postpone it in view of the festivities in town, Nongshlong told PTI.

He said that he and his friends were compelled to protest as the state government had done nothing to end the crisis at the border.

Nongshlong had earlier in July called off a fast-unto-death on the same issue at the Nongstoin Civil Hospital where he was admitted after getting assurances from the government.
