Police have launched a hunt to nab people who tried to send bottles containing "dirty water" to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his son K T Rama Rao besides other important citizens of the city.

Police said 62 bottles containing the liquid were seized earlier from the Secunderabad Post office, when postal officials complained about foul smell emanating from the bottles packed in cartons booked by unknown people.

The boxes were intended to be delivered to VIPs.

"We got the Forensic Science Laboratory report on the contents of the bottle. They said it was dirty water.

Based on the description given by postal department officials, we are trying to nab the persons," Kalmeshwar Shingenavar, DCP, North Zone told PTI.

The police official said these bottles were meant "to create mischief."

The bottles packed in cartons were booked in the name of a former official of the Osmania University who denied having any knowledge about it.

Some parcels were addressed to KCRs daughter and former MP Kavitha, City Police Commissioner, Director General of Police and film actors among others, police said.
