The tripartite agreement on Darjeeling which had mentioned 'Gorkhaland' was hurried through by the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal and it was to blame for the renewed agitation in the hills, the CPI(M) said the Mamata Banerjee government
"The Left has always supported autonomy, but not the creation of a new state. But when the accord was signed in a hurry, the state government had compromised on the the mention of Gorkhaland in it, which shouldn't have been done," Leader of the Opposition and senior CPI(M) leader Surya Kanta Mishra said.
"When the GTA treaty was signed we had cautioned that a lot of corrections needed to be made, but the state was adamant and did not bother to discuss the matter with opposition parties," Mishra said.
He said that everybody knew about the cordial relations the ruling Trinamool Congress had with the GJM and the Kamtapuris and were now paying for it.
Mishra also slammed the UPA for giving the green signal for the creation of Telangana and alleged that it had helped in reviving the agitation in Darjeeling.
