Both the factions of Hurriyat Conference today criticised the Centre's reaction to the reference made by Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) on Kashmir, saying "India's assertion that Kashmir is its integral part is far from reality".

"India's reaction to OIC's statement is unrealistic and shows its stubbornness. Parroting that Kashmir is an integral part of India has not changed the disputed nature of Kashmir in the past nor will it bring any change in its status in future," hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani said in a statement here.

Reacting to the reference made to Jammu and Kashmir by the OIC in its recently-held session in Guinea, India yesterday said the organisation has once again made "factually incorrect and misleading" references in matters concerning internal affairs of the country.

Welcoming the OIC statement on Kashmir, Moderate Hurriyat Conference headed by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said India's reaction is far from "historical and political perspective".

"The OIC statement on Kashmir is based on realities and the organisation has always advocated for peaceful resolution of the issue," the Hurriyat said.
