The State Human Rights Commission has issued notices to Hyderabad District Collector and District Education Officer to file their reports in connection with the death of a 16-year-old student, who committed "suicide" following the alleged "humiliation" meted out to him by the school management over delay in payment of fees.

The mother of the boy filed a petition before the SHRC yesterday accusing harassment due to non-payment of fees for three months leading to the death of his son.

Based on the petition, the Commission directed the Hyderabad District Collector and District Education Officer to inquire into the matter and file their reports before it on February 2.

Police earlier said the boy, a ninth class student of the school located at Chandrayangutta here allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan last week even as his family members in a complaint accused the school management of humiliating him over the delay in payment of fees.

Following the complaint, Kanchanbagh Police had arrested a official of the school last week. The school management has refuted the charges levelled by the boy's family and claimed that he had resorted to the extreme step over personal reasons.
