The order of the Supreme Court regarding removal of black films from all motor vehicles was implemented in the city on October 25, and till date 51,753 cases have been registered, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) C V Anand said.

A recent sample survey indicated that more than 95-97 per cent of the four lakh car users have removed the films, while it was observed that remaining 3 to 5 per cent were wilful violators, the people taking out their vehicles during odd timings and vehicles coming from outside Hyderabad, he said.

Appealing remaining car users who have tinted films to expeditiously remove them, failing which the police will be compelled to issue challans and also remove the films, the senior traffic police official warned.

From December 28 onwards, Traffic Police will impose fine of upto Rs 1,000 under various sections of the Motor Vehicle Act for non-compliance of court instructions, he added.

Referring to requests by some of the VIPs, officials, film and other important personalities to give them exemption from removal of such films under various pretexts, Anand said the matter has been discussed at the highest level.

It has been decided that the orders of the Supreme Court will be implemented in letter and spirit and no exemption shall be granted to anybody, except for people falling under Z and Z+ security categories, he said.
