A local woman, facing "torture" at the hands of her "sponsor" in Saudi Arabia, has been rescued after the local MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi took up her case, according to the party.
Asra Begum, in her mid 20s, was a resident of Hafeezpet area in the city.
"She went to Saudi Arabia last year on the advice of her father in the hope of earning money. Since the last few months, she was facing torture at the hands of the family with whom she was working as a helper. She was not allowed to sleep and was also not given any food," a release from AIMIM said.

According to the release, Owaisi wrote to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and also spoke to the Counsel General at Indian Consulate in Jeddah and sought their help in the matter, following which the woman was rescued.
"Today, Asra Begum, along with her family members, met Owaisi at the party headquarters Darussalam and thanked him for helping her and bringing her back to the city," the release said.
