A four-year-old boy was today rescued from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, two weeks after a man allegedly kidnapped him from here and tried to sell him for Rs 1 lakh, police said today.

"About two months back, Gangaiah came to Rajendranagar here with his auto trolley and raised a hut to sell medicines. However, since his income was meager, he decided to earn money by kidnapping and selling children," it said.

On September 7, when the boy was playing alone near his house under Rajendranagar Police station limits, the accused kidnapped him by luring him with chocolates and took him to Lingampally railway station and boarded a train to Guntakal, police said.
