Hyderabad civic body launches drive to protect Govt lands

The local civic body has launched a drive to protect lands owned by trusts and Government and clear illegal constructions on them.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Somesh Kumar today said a special drive with a ten-point formula has been taken up with a team of different departments to protect all trust and Government lands where illegal constructions have come up.

The GHMC's intention is not to trouble anybody and the special drive is meant for protecting Government lands and stop all unauthorised constructions on them with integrated approach, he said.

Referring to ongoing special drive at Gurukul Trust lands, the Commissioner said identified illegal buildings have already been demolished. "Some more buildings have been identified and they will be demolished immediately following all the prescribed procedures."
 

The civic body is also planning a large-scale awareness campaign to educate people about dos and dont's while purchasing plots, construction buildings and buying apartments, he added.
